What NUBCU Do

  • What does NUBCU do?
The National United Black Carpenters Union provides carpentry training for urban inner-city youth 18 and older. These youth become skilled and trained carpenters who support underrepresented Blacks in construction. The union aims to build unity as America’s voice in the construction industry for Black Carpenters and apprentices who are denied access to America's multi-trillion-dollar industry due to government restrictive policies.
  • How can I join NUBCU?
Seeking membership as an apprentice or skilled and trained master carpenter is done by applying online or at any walk-in location with its national affiliates. Once you have applied, you will be contacted by a NUBCU business agent for an interview to help you on your path toward a unionization career as a carpenter.
  • What are the benefits of membership?
Members can access exclusive training, job opportunities, networking events, and a strong support network. NUBCU empowers Black Carpenters, some of the best and most highly trained members. Its vision and mission will help Black Carpenters and others achieve an excellent financial retirement.
  • Does NUBCU offer apprenticeships?
NUBCU has affiliate chapters nationally and federally approved by the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship and the Department of Industrial Relations Division of Apprenticeship Standards under the Shelley Montoya Act of the U.S. Department of Labor Section 1777.5 apprenticeship hiring mandate.
  • How can I support NUBCU?
Carpenter membership is the foundation of the NUBCU and its contractor member affiliates. By becoming a member of the NUBCU, you will gain empowerment as a supporter of equity in an industry by giving back in time and monetary support: donation and participation.
